Please stop asking why there isn’t a White History Month.

  1. there isn’t a white history month because white achievements are already fully lauded to the exclusion of eberyone else who has contributed to this country.

  2. Ouch! Harsh but honest (and true). I’ve always loved Morgan Freeman’s response to Black History Month on 60 Minutes a while back though. http://bit.ly/1cS39JN
“WALLACE: Black History Month, you find …
    FREEMAN: Ridiculous.
    WALLACE: Why?
FREEMAN: You’re going to relegate my history to a month?
    WALLACE: Come on.
FREEMAN: What do you do with yours? Which month is White History Month? Come on, tell me.
    WALLACE: I’m Jewish.
FREEMAN: OK. Which month is Jewish History Month?
    WALLACE: There isn’t one.
FREEMAN: Why not? Do you want one?
    WALLACE: No, no.
FREEMAN: I don’t either. I don’t want a Black History Month. Black history is American history.”

    • If only we could get to a point where Whiteness and White Supremacy weren’t centered in all history, then we wouldn’t need things like “Black History Month” or “Latino History Month.” Not sure that time is coming any time soon.

      • With how people have reacted to our half black/half white president I doubt it will be in my daughter’s life time and she is only 3. It is one thing to disagree with someone, like many did with both Bush presidents or Clinton, but the personal attacks are way out of proportion. Even in the middle of the whole Monica Lewinsky thing Clinton didn’t get hit that hard. Imagine what would happen if Obama did the same thing? He probably would be impeached. That is if Michelle didn’t kill him first. That woman has some big biceps. I don’t mean that in a way of saying big for a woman or anything sexist like that but big for anyone.

*sigh* Oh do I remember this growing up..
